Welcome

All Saints Catholic School is closed until May 18, 2020 due to the Coronavirus.

Please make sure to check your email for updates from me and the school.

All videos I have sent out can be found on the Links page above!

Identify all capital and lowercase letters in order.  Identify all capital and lowercase letters in random order.  Identify all letter sounds in order.  Identify all letter sounds in random order.  You can make flashcards to practice this, or use magnetic letters, etc.  Whatever you have available.  You could also write 3 (2 the same letter, 1 a different) letters on a paper or board and ask which letters are the same, which one is different?  You could play games matching capital letters to their lowercase partners.

Writing their first names.  Try first letter capital, and all the others lowercase.  You can write it with a highlighter for them to trace and copy and then try on their own.  You can do the same process with their last name.  They can practice writing all lowercase and capital letters.

Identifying numbers 0-10, in order than in random order.  Move on to 11-20 if ready.  Practice counting.  You can make number cards and then have them put that many items on each card.  You can use anything - cereal, legos, buttons, etc.

We are working on ABA patterns.  They should be able to read them, extend them and then make them.  See if they can do the same with ABBA, ABC patterns.  We were also talking about ordinal numbers (first, second, third).  We mostly do this with letters in words.  Write their name, or other word and ask them to point or say the 2nd letter, etc.

Identifying shapes.  You can make flashcards to name shapes or have them try to draw them.  They can trace shapes.

We have been working on identifying the difference between letters and words.  Words need to have a vowel. For example write - t, cat, dog, w, and - on a paper - ask your child to point to a letter or word.

We have been writing journals in class.  You can have them draw a picture, and then tell you a sentence about their picture.  You can have them try to write the sentence first.  Some children are really good at picking out the initial word sound and the ending sound.  If this is frustrating them it is ok for you to write the sentence.

Read Together!  Go on letter hunts in books.  They are good letter detectives.  They will be able to tell you if the letter is in the beginning, middle or end.

Please see the form page for our latest newsletter.

    *************************************************************************************************

Our 4 year old program is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for your child, as well as, a place to grow physically, emotionally, spiritually and intellectually.  Our program is a traditional classroom.  We encourage a hands on approach to learning.  Practicing independence is a key goal in the classroom.

Each week we will have an educational theme that I will tie a letter, number, shape and color into.  All themes will be correlated to the Guiding Principles for the Preschool Program from the Diocese of Wilmington.

Each day the children will have experiences in Language/Literacy Readiness, Math Readiness, Science, Social Studies, Writing, Art, Music/Movement.  The curriculum will also include activities related to their Social/Emotional Development, Independence and Self Help Skills.  We will also be following Fundations Curriculum to introduce the letters.  Fundations is the curriculum that is used in Kindergarten and First Grade at All Saints too!  In religion, we will be using Stories of God's Love, as well as, Promise.

The children enjoy Specials throughout the week.  We have Library & Music on Tuesdays, Art on Wednesdays, Gym on Thursdays and Spanish on Fridays.
