Welcome to 3rd Grade!
Third Grade Learning
Curriculum
Third grade classes are: Reading, Writing, Grammar, Religion, Science, Math and Social Studies. Students also have specials including:Art, Physical Education, Technology, Music and a STEM class. Special care is brought to all classes using the STREAM approach. Chromebooks, Ipads and Smart Board used multiple times a day within subjects.
Special Projects
Some of the Third game projects are: A Heifer International project, Animals of the Amazon project, Catrholic School Week essays, iMovies in ELA class, and a STREAM project like last year's police car made from soup cans.
Field Trips
Third grade has some great field trips including visits to: A theatrical production, Villone Village with buddies, and the Dupont Environmental Education Center or Fort DuPont.
Community Service
In past years, Third grade has done the folloing items for community service: Made bracelets to support Heifer International, gone Christmas caroling in Elsmere, collected canned food items and made a police officer “thank you” banner. We expect to continue those tradions and add onto them.
STAR Assessment Data
Third grade’s always seeking to make improvements based on data results. We take multiple assessments and look for growth. We make improvements with goals in mind using programs like Accelerated Reader, Prodigygame.com and spelling city.com
Special Classroom
Our class is special with custom handshakes for each student, possibility of weekly earned small prizes, and special treats relating to a job well done. We had milk and cookies after reading Winn Dixie! We also have strong teacher-parent communication through emails, phone calls and teacher pages. We would love to have you join us!
