 Third grade students design and build irrigation systems, build skyscrapers in Social Studies, and research and make volcanoes. They create iMovies, such as gestures for the Our Father, The National Nouns News Network, and biographies of noted scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians. Learning is challenging, engaging, and fun!

              FOR RISING THIRD GRADERS

Welcome to Third Grade!

To get ready for third grade, please follow the directions below.

1. Choose three of the following books to read this summer.

2. Complete a book report form for two of them.

3. Be prepared to take an Accelerated Reader test on each one in September.

4. Spend some time each day on a math website playing games to review using the Accelerated  Reader/Math Flash Facts link: https://hosted38.renlearn.com/28629/ Please be sure to know your addition and subtraction facts, and how to add and subtract with regrouping.

5.  Practice your cursive writing twice a week.

You need to read for 15 minutes a day at least 4 days a week.

Color one box for each day that you read for 15 minutes for a total of 32 boxes.

The following items are needed for third grade. While they will be available at the school store, most may be purchased anywhere.

Homework planner $5.00

Thank you for sending in $8.00 during the first week of school to cover these.

3 notebooks (composition style of 60 or more pages)

 

To keep in the classroom:

2 boxes of tissues

2 containers of wipes

1 roll of paper towels
